Music from a summer evening back in February at Hope St on a Friday. Vinyl selection. The Audrey Powne remixes blow my mind. She’s from Melbourne dontcha know. Something about the Aretha ‘club mix’ from 1985 keeps me going back to it. Even in public.
The Los Hermanos Detroit record is just incredible.
I’ve been buying lots of the slow acid house 12’s from back in the day, like Raze ‘Break 4 Love’, the radio vocals mix, included here; also things like ‘Alright’ by Urban Soul (not the Sasha mix, too fast) and ‘Let The Music Use You’, the Shoom tune by The Night Writers, aka Frankie Knuckles.
The image below is Paulinho Da Costa, the cover of his record ‘Agora.’ Brazilian percussion and chanting. Later, he played on ‘Off The Wall’ and ‘Thriller.’ A friend bought ‘Agora’ for me one day at The Searchers. It wasn’t even my birthday! Good name for a drummer, or a footballer. There’s a tracklist below too, for the NERDS. As is customary I don’t really like it anymore, or any of the tunes.
Enjoy.
