A couple of hours playing records at Hope St on a Thursday evening in October. Thanks to them for recording and broadcasting it. It sounds lovely in the room there, real deep, real crisp. Places like this you hear things in your records you didn’t know existed. I also like it because I’m not from the north.
The two hours spans 1971 - 2024. There’s three Manu Dibango tracks because I bought three Manu Dibango 70’s albums just recently, a bit of a lucky bulk find, pre-fair. The first few in the broadcast are contemporary jazz-adjacent artists from the UK/Scotland which I’ve been amassing. The Herbie Mann version of ‘Cajun Moon’ I absolutely love. Daylight by Ramp. Barrabas, eh? They were a little freaky. What’s with the mermaid? ‘Angela’ by Bob James is the theme tune from Taxi. Azimuth because Brazilian. David Crosby. J Magik to finish.
